Meet The Team

Jeff Stone, President

Jeff’s goal throughout the home building process is to help families realize their dreams. His passion for building and for business led him to found Northstone Builders 20 years ago. Jeff’s degree in construction management from Brigham Young University and 25+ years of homebuilding experience is the perfect combination of knowledge and experience to ensure each client’s dreams become their reality.

A father of five, Jeff is as passionate about his community as his business. You’ll find him quietly volunteering on the weekends in various community projects. He believes in continually giving back to the community that has served him so well. 

“I believe there’s no better way to know the community’s wants and needs than to live in it and dedicate yourself to serving it. The rewards are tenfold,” Jeff says. “I love our community and am grateful they have helped Northstone thrive for so many years.”

Chris Gussett, Project Manager

A native Houstonian, Chris has strong pride in his city. After graduating from Texas Tech in 2003, he returned to Houston to begin his career in residential construction. Chris’ passion for construction dates back to his childhood years when building with Legos and Lincoln Logs and drawing homes was his activity of choice. As a Project Manager, he works closely with our clients and contractors to manage the day-to-day schedule of the job and ensure clients’ visions are being implemented with precision.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, is active in youth sports with his kids, and loves to fly drones over the Houston skyline to capture never-before-seen pictures.

Melissa Swanson, Controller

Melissa Swanson, CPA, is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with more than 25 years of accounting and financial leadership experience. She began her career in public accounting before spending two decades as a CFO in the construction supply industry. Prior to joining Northstone Builders as Controller in February 2026, Melissa worked in nonprofit accounting for five years.

 Outside of her professional role, Melissa is actively involved in the National Charity League alongside her daughter and serves on the board of the Memorial Moms Association. She is also active in her church and enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and extended family.

Amy Johnson, Project Coordinator

A Houston native, Amy discovered her passion for residential construction after beginning her career in an entirely different field. For more than 16 years, she has built experience across a variety of roles, developing a broad understanding of the homebuilding process and an appreciation for both the technical and creative aspects of the industry. She enjoys bringing organization, collaboration, and problem-solving to every project, helping transform ideas into places people are proud to call home. Amy values continuous learning and believes the best projects are built through strong teamwork and attention to detail.

 Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time with family and friends, embracing new experiences, and making the most of life's everyday moments.
